ife and art have worked in complement to shape the career of Frances Hoffnagle. An early passion for art was nourished in art classes for children at the Wadsworth Atheneum. Commitments to her family and a career as a CPA followed, but her pursuit of the arts continued as an unbroken thread through a consistently demanding schedule. As she earned her professional degrees in accounting and taxation at the University of Hartford, she pursued her study of art at Central Connecticut State University and has continued her arts education over the years at every opportunity. She participates in workshops with a number of contemporary painters whose work she admires and currently attends master classes with acclaimed artist Ilona S. Levitz.
er gifts initially found expression through drawing, watercolors and photography. Later, with children grown and her career settled into an easy rhythm, her interest in art begged for a deeper expression that she found working with acrylics, a medium that allows her fresh and unexpected ways of interpreting the world that surrounds her. She has characterized the images that the landscape communicates to her as songs without words.
Frances Hoffnagle’s work has been shown at galleries and other venues throughout central and western Connecticut, and can be found in collections in a number of other states and countries. She is a member of the Avon Art League, the Canton Artists Guild, the New Hartford Art League and the West Hartford Art League. |
